Galaxy S22 is the new king of smartphones

Here's What Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Will Cost

Samsung’s latest flagship, the Galaxy S22 Ultra, has a lot to live up to among a sea of smartphones that has heated up in the previous year, from Apple’s iPhone 13 Pro Max to Google’s Pixel 6 Pro to Sony’s Xperia 1 III, the Galaxy S22 Ultra has a lot to live up to.

We were enamored with the Galaxy S21 Ultra when released last year. While the first Ultra was a great smartphone, why does the new Ultra look so much like the Galaxy Note?

The S22 Ultra, unlike the other two S22s, displays a significant curve on the left and right sides with a flat top and bottom – just like the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

We loved the design of the Note 20 Ultra when it was introduced in 2019, so reusing its appearance is OK in our book. On the other hand, Samsung can’t afford to put a repurposed phone on the market. The entire package must be jam-packed with cutting-edge technology to justify the £1,149 price tag on the S22 Ultra.

The design and the screen: oh my gosh

Everyone has gotten over the fact that the S22 Ultra looks almost exactly like the Note 20 Ultra. As a result, many of its flaws have been remedied, and one of those is its durability.

Because of its Armor Aluminium metal chassis and Victus Plus Gorilla Glass front and back, the S22 Ultra is built to last longer than previous Galaxy phones. The phone weighs 229g, which is between the weight of an iPhone 13 Pro and the maximum capacity of the iPhone 13 Pro.

Even though we did everything to avoid dropping the phone, a few drop tests have appeared online, and the camera glass is the first to break. Fortunately, the screen and rear panel could resist cracks considerably better. You’ll still need a case, even though this is the case.

It’s time for a new S Pen

Because it’s the first S Series phone with an integrated S Pen, the S22 Ultra is also very snappy thanks to its lower latency of just 2.8 milliseconds instead of the usual nine milliseconds. Samsung claims to have accomplished these lightning-fast rates through artificial intelligence (AI) to forecast where the pen will go before you take it there.

It’s also possible to use the S Pen Air as a shutter release or stop and play button for movies and music while using Samsung’s improved handwriting recognition, which supports 88 different languages.

With the help of Wacom, the S22 Ultra’s S Pen recognizes 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity, which makes the phone an outstanding digital creative tool with pressure recognized throughout ClipStudio, Sketchbook, and most other drawing applications accessible through Google Play.

Superb quality on the screen

The S22 Ultra’s Dynamic AMOLED screen measures 6.8 inches, making it more significant than the iPhone 13 Pro Max’s 6.7-inch display. It has a QHD+ resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate, which means menus and online pages scroll as if they were melted butter.

The Note 20 Ultra and S21 Ultra are nearly identical, but Samsung has injected some intelligence into the S22 Ultra display when it comes to hardware. To begin with, it shines brighter than anything else on the market, reaching a maximum brightness of 1750 nits. While we didn’t test it in bright sunlight, it should make the phone easier to see.

Exynos 2200 processors will be used in the UK, whereas Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 will be used in China and the US. We didn’t experience any sluggishness or overheating when using the UI and most apps, and the phone kept calm. While running Android 12 and Samsung’s One UI 4, this smartphone also has excellent app and game compatibility, a customizable Edge Bar, and the ability to link to a PC through Link to Windows. Using this handy function, which is only available on a small number of Microsoft and Samsung Android smartphones, you can take complete control of your phone from your PC, including the option to run numerous phone apps simultaneously on your computer screen.

Honey, I’ve reduced the size of the package

S22 Ultra packaging is 19% smaller than S21 Ultra packaging, which reduces transportation and material costs. That’s less than half the volume of all packaging except Apple’s rival smartphone makers. In addition, there is no power supply in the package. If you have a 45W charger for your Tab S7 Plus or Tab S8 Plus, you may charge your S22 Ultra in double the time.

Overall, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is a fantastic camera, and its zoom is especially impressive. Handheld, we were able to capture this image at 85x zoom, which we doubt any other periscope smartphone could manage. Like its predecessor, the S22 Ultra has a 108MP primary camera and two 12MP ultra-wide cameras with 3x and 10x optical zooms. The S22 Ultra’s camera system is identical to Samsung’s Galaxy S21 Ultra. Samsung says that the S22 Ultra’s image NPU gives it a unique shooting experience, even though the technology may be similar (neural processing unit).
